The tile catches your eye. The preparation determines how the shower performs. We help you plan the wall layout, shower floor, storage and edges together, so the finished room feels considered from every angle.
Start with the whole shower
A beautiful wall pattern can unravel at a niche or valve if those details are left until installation. We talk through where you stand, where you reach for shampoo and how the glass meets the tile. Those choices inform the layout before work starts. Bring inspiration photos, but also tell us what does not work in your current shower.
The layer you never see
Tile and grout are the visible finish, not the waterproofing system. The walls, pan, drain connection, corners and penetrations need to work together beneath it. Your scope should identify the assembly and how it will be checked before tile covers it. A surface refresh and a complete shower rebuild are different projects; we explain which one your shower needs.
A floor that belongs to the room
The drain layout affects the tile size and cuts on the shower floor. Small mosaics can follow changes in slope, while larger pieces need a compatible drainage design. We consider the floor underfoot, grout maintenance and the transition at the entry alongside the wall tile. The result should work as well as it looks.
Start with the scope
What goes into your estimate?
The size of the room matters. So do the preparation, material, layout and the details at every edge. We’ll work through those with you before pricing the project.

Decisions first. Details throughout.
Start with photos and a conversation about the room. Then review the existing surfaces, measurements and tile selection. The scope should identify the preparation, transitions, responsibilities of other trades and the finish you expect. Changes discovered during removal need a conversation before they become additional work.
Tile is only part of the schedule. Material delivery, drying and curing, trade coordination and access to the room all influence the sequence. Tell Alex what the household needs during the work so the plan can account for it.

Before your project.
Can I choose my own tile?
Yes. Send the product name, size and a link or sample before ordering. The tile needs to suit its location, and its dimensions affect layout, preparation and waste. We can discuss those details before you commit to a purchase.
Can you help coordinate the shower glass?
Alex has coordinated tile projects with a plumber and glass installer, as described in customer reviews. We will clarify the trade responsibilities and glass measurement sequence in your project scope.
What affects the cost of custom tile showers?
The dimensions, existing conditions, material choice and preparation all affect the scope. Send a wide photo, approximate measurements and your city. Alex can then discuss what needs an on-site assessment and what belongs in the written estimate.
How is the schedule decided?
Scheduling follows the agreed scope, material availability, preparation, curing and any work by other trades. Tell us about access limits or an only-bathroom situation before a date is set.
Do you work in Vancouver and Portland?
We serve Clark County, Washington, and the Portland metro. Include your city and any access details in your inquiry so we can discuss your specific location.
