Kitchen backsplash installationin Vancouver, WA & Portland

A small surface with a big say in how your kitchen feels.

Subway tile, glass mosaic or a carefully centered pattern: a backsplash deserves the same attention as a full room. The cuts around outlets and the edges at cabinets are where that care shows.

Find the focal point

A range wall, a window or a long run of cabinets may provide the natural center for the pattern. We look at the whole elevation so one beautiful section does not create awkward slivers at the other end. Directional tile and herringbone patterns especially benefit from a dry layout.

Plan every stopping point

The top of the tile, exposed ends and window returns need an intentional finish. Profiles, matching trim and carefully finished edges create different looks. Consider them alongside the tile sample; they are difficult to improvise neatly after installation begins.

Know what you are covering

Existing tile, painted drywall, uneven patches and countertop changes each affect preparation. If the countertop is being replaced, its installation needs to be coordinated before the final backsplash dimensions are settled. Electrical adjustments are handled by the appropriate trade.

Start with the scope

What goes into your estimate?

The size of the room matters. So do the preparation, material, layout and the details at every edge. We’ll work through those with you before pricing the project.

How the work comes together

Decisions first. Details throughout.

Start with photos and a conversation about the room. Then review the existing surfaces, measurements and tile selection. The scope should identify the preparation, transitions, responsibilities of other trades and the finish you expect. Changes discovered during removal need a conversation before they become additional work.

Tile is only part of the schedule. Material delivery, drying and curing, trade coordination and access to the room all influence the sequence. Tell Alex what the household needs during the work so the plan can account for it.

Planning questions

Before your project.

Can you install glass or mosaic backsplash tile?

Yes. The product, backing and pattern matter to the installation plan. Send the exact tile you have in mind so we can assess the cuts, setting-material requirements and layout.

Should I install countertops or backsplash first?

In a typical kitchen sequence, the countertop needs to be installed before the backsplash is measured and finished against it. We review the sequence with the countertop work to avoid redoing edges.

What affects the cost of kitchen backsplash installation?

The dimensions, existing conditions, material choice and preparation all affect the scope. Send a wide photo, approximate measurements and your city. Alex can then discuss what needs an on-site assessment and what belongs in the written estimate.

How is the schedule decided?

Scheduling follows the agreed scope, material availability, preparation, curing and any work by other trades. Tell us about access limits or an only-bathroom situation before a date is set.

Do you work in Vancouver and Portland?

We serve Clark County, Washington, and the Portland metro. Include your city and any access details in your inquiry so we can discuss your specific location.
