A shower leak needs a diagnosis before it needs a new finish. We discuss the pan, drain connection and surrounding tile as parts of one assembly, with plumbing evaluated by the appropriate trade.

Find where the water is coming from

Water outside a shower can have several causes. The timing of the leak, which fixtures are running and where dampness first appears are useful clues, but photographs alone cannot confirm a diagnosis. Avoid covering damaged areas before they can be evaluated.

A pan repair has to connect to the walls

Replacing only the shower floor is not always a complete solution. The new waterproofing needs a reliable connection to the existing wall assembly. If that connection cannot be made, removal may need to extend farther than the visibly damaged tile.

Use the rebuild to resolve the details

Drain placement, floor tile, the curb and access for cleaning can be reconsidered while the base is open. Keep the repair priorities clear so useful improvements do not turn into an unplanned full-room remodel.

Start with the scope

What goes into your estimate?

The size of the room matters. So do the preparation, material, layout and the details at every edge. We’ll work through those with you before pricing the project.

How the work comes together

Decisions first. Details throughout.

Start with photos and a conversation about the room. Then review the existing surfaces, measurements and tile selection. The scope should identify the preparation, transitions, responsibilities of other trades and the finish you expect. Changes discovered during removal need a conversation before they become additional work.

Tile is only part of the schedule. Material delivery, drying and curing, trade coordination and access to the room all influence the sequence. Tell Alex what the household needs during the work so the plan can account for it.

Planning questions

Before your project.

Can just the shower pan be replaced?

Sometimes. The condition and type of the existing assembly determine whether a reliable connection to the remaining waterproofing is possible. That needs review before promising a pan-only repair.

Should I keep using a leaking shower?

If water is escaping into surrounding construction, stop using that shower until the source is assessed. Active plumbing leaks should be directed to a plumber; wet or damaged electrical areas need the appropriate professional.

What affects the cost of shower pan replacement & leak repair?

The dimensions, existing conditions, material choice and preparation all affect the scope. Send a wide photo, approximate measurements and your city. Alex can then discuss what needs an on-site assessment and what belongs in the written estimate.

How is the schedule decided?

Scheduling follows the agreed scope, material availability, preparation, curing and any work by other trades. Tell us about access limits or an only-bathroom situation before a date is set.
