A sound shower with worn joints and a leaking shower are different jobs. Choose the scope after the condition is understood.
Explore shower pan replacement & leak repair ↗When is a surface repair reasonable?
If the tile and underlying assembly are sound and the problem is limited to the grout, a localized repair may be appropriate. The existing joint, tile condition and selected product determine the preparation needed.
What suggests a deeper problem?
Movement, repeated cracks, water outside the shower and persistent dampness deserve investigation. Grout is not a replacement for a working pan or drain connection. A cosmetic repair should not be presented as a guaranteed leak fix.
How should the options be compared?
Ask what each option addresses, what remains unverified and what would happen if the symptom returns. A smaller repair can make sense, but its limits should be explicit. A rebuild quote should explain the new assembly and the removal boundaries.
A common question
Can I decide from photos alone?
Photos are a useful starting point. The condition behind the finish and the reliability of a repair connection may require an on-site assessment or limited opening.
