When does the leak appear?

Note whether water appears while the shower runs, after it has been used or when other fixtures run. Record the first visible location and whether it changes. These observations help an assessment but do not establish a diagnosis by themselves.

What photographs are useful?

Take a wide view of the shower, the drain, the entry and the affected area outside it. If the ceiling below shows dampness, photograph that too without opening unsafe or electrical areas. Do not cover symptoms before the assessment.

Who should investigate?

Active supply or drain plumbing problems need a plumber. A tile or waterproofing assembly problem may require a shower rebuild plan. If water is near electrical equipment, involve the appropriate professional and avoid contact with the affected area.

A common question

Should I add caulk everywhere first?

No. Covering visible gaps can obscure useful evidence and may not address the source. A repair should follow the diagnosis, not precede it.
